Max Canady Teachey



Max Canady Teachey, age 85, of Wallace left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Monday, January 1, 2018 from his residence.

He was born on December 12, 1932 in Duplin County and was the son of the late Matthew Newton and Annie Jane Mills Teachey. He was also predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Patricia "Pat" Ann Ives Teachey; his siblings, M.N. Teachey, Helen Sharron, Louis Teachey, Doris T. Foust and Charlotte T. Jones. Lovingly remembered are also his very special friends, the late Jim Futrell and the late Henry and Harvey McClain.

Max loved and proudly served his country in US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a life-long member of First Baptist Church of Wallace where he served as deacon for many years.

Surviving to cherish Max's memory are his devoted children, Cindy T. Brooks and husband, Vance of Wilmington, Max Craig Teachey and wife, Monica of Pink Hill, Amy T. Worley and husband, Robin of Carrollton, GA, Jill T. Johnson and husband, David of Surf City and Noel Scott Teachey of Wallace; grandchildren, Devon Register and husband, Charlie, Chason Johnson, Annie Johnson, Hannah Teachey, John Brooks, Robin Hyman, Palmer Mayer and Harris Worley; great grandchildren, Skylar Register, Kate Mayer, Caroline Mayer, Bynum Brooks and Shepard Brooks; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Max dearly.

Max was a loving father, a caring grandfather and brother who loved his family dearly. He was a hard worker and great provider for his family. Always a farmer at heart, Max was owner and manager of T and F Farm Service for many years and was later known for his delicious "Max's Strawberries" in Wallace. Everyone from near and far would come to Max's to pick or to buy some of his strawberries. Max never met a stranger and he loved people. But most of all Max loved His Lord, his family and his friends. He will surely be missed but treasured memories of him will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved Max Teachey.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Wallace with the Reverend Dr. Alan Thompson officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:30am to 11:00am on Wednesday at the church.

Due to extreme cold weather, the committal service will be held inside the church immediately follow the funeral service. Burial at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery is pending due to weather conditions.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial gifts be sent in memory of Max to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401 and /or to First Baptist Church of Wallace, Memorial Fund, 408 W. Main Street, Wallace, NC 28466.
