Virginia Voigt Richter



Virginia Holcomb Voigt Richter died on June 25, 2018 at the age of 100.
Virginia was born August 5, 1917 in Parsons, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Clyde Holcomb and Ida Hay Holcomb.

She grew up in Lexington, Tennessee, graduated from Lexington High School, and attended Lambuth College in Jackson, Tennessee. She was married to the late John Dudley Voigt for 43 years and raised her three children in Nashville, Tennessee. She was very active in Belle Meade Methodist Church there,

where she served as president of the United Methodist Women.
After her husband’s death she moved to St. Petersburg, Florida where she later married the late George Frank Richter. They were married for twenty years. After his death she moved to Brightmore in Wilmington, North Carolina where she has enjoyed many new friendships over the last nine years.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law and a son and daughter-in-law, Lynn Voigt MacQueen and husband, Donald; Penney Voigt Schiel and husband, Paul; and John Dudley Voigt, Jr. and wife, Linda. She is survived by six grandchildren, Miles MacQueen, Koo MacQueen, Wesley Schiel, Dudley Schiel, Ryan Voigt, and Justin Voigt. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Macy Stengle, Miles Stengle, and Maebel MacQueen. A special thank you to Jessie Jackson, her close friend and caregiver.
A graveside service will be held in Nashville, Tennessee at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice or Liberty Hospice of Wilmington, North Carolina or Belle Meade Methodist Church in Nashville, Tennessee .
