Vincent Joseph Cottone, age 68, passed from his earthly life on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 5, 1949 in Manhattan, NY, the son of the late Frank Michael and Dorothea Nastasi Cottone.
Vincent was husband to Kathleen Cottone; father of Michele Gold (Brian) and Mark Cottone; grandfather to Nicholas, Hunter and Gabriella; and brother to Mary Jean, Joey, Dorothy, and Christopher.
He was proud to be an American, loved the USA, and honorably served in the US Army.
Having a love and passion for fishing, Vincent earned his captain’s license and enjoyed his days fishing in the Great South Bay and in Montauk, NY. His favorite hockey team was the New York Rangers, which he always enjoyed watching and loved seeing them win. Most recently Vincent’s new hobby was target shooting with his grandson, Nicholas. Most of all Vincent loved and cared for his beloved family. Cherished memories of Vincent will live on in our hearts.

Vinny, you were the first born of 7 children to mom and dad. I will always remember the good times. I will remember shooting milk bottle in the apartment when mommy went food shopping, the band practicing on Sundays. I will remover riding in the convertible with the top down and you taking us to palisades park. Out can now catch Sharks in Heaven. I Love you and will miss you. You Rest In Peace now. Your pain is gone.
We will be here for your Kathy and Michele. Gabriella will hear the stories of her “Crazy Grandpa”.

Dear Kathy, Michele, Mark, Brian and family we just wanted you all to know that our hearts are very heavy at the loss of "Vinny". He was a great neighbor for many years, a good dad and great grandfather. While we are all sad and upset at his loss he is probably sitting back on a beautiful boat catching a mako...
he's happy and has no pain, you all have your precious memories.
hugs to all
rest in peace Vin
love you all

I spent some time this afternoon thinking back to the home movies my dad took of you and the rest of the family at cousin Karen's when I was a baby. You were blessed with a kind heart and an awesome sense of humor. You will be remembered by us always. Until we meet again.
