Obituary

Lossie Aycock Marshburn, 98, of Burgaw, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and God’s faithful servant was called to her heavenly home by the Lord on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Ashe Gardens.

She was born October 9, 1919 in Duplin County, the daughter of the late Barnes and Mollie McKoy Aycock. Lossie was preceded in death by her husband, David Andrew Marshburn.

Lossie is survived by her daughter, Evelyn Hobbs; son, David E. Marshburn (Mildred); grandchildren, Catherine Bradbury (Guy), Stacy Marshburn, Julian Marshburn, Anthony Marshburn (Mary) and Tina Moore; six great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; many extended family and friends.

She was a lifetime faithful member of Mt. Holly Baptist Church and spent her life thinking of and serving others. Lossie enjoyed gardening, taking care of her yard, and usually went about her day singing hymns and praises to God. Being devoted to every member of her family, Lossie used all holidays and birthdays as an occasion to pull her family together.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Burgaw Chapel with funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Merrell McKoy and The Rev. Horace Hawes will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.

In lieu of flower memorial gifts may be given to Mt. Holly Baptist Church, 5551 US Hwy 117, Burgaw, NC 28425.
