Willie Mae Futreal Evans, 92, formerly of Duplin County passed peacefully from her earthly life on Friday, August 31, 2018 at Bradley Creek Health Center in Wilmington.
She was born September 19, 1925 in Duplin County, the daughter of the late Henry and Katie Lee Wilson Futreal. She was preceded in death by her husband, Randall Evans.

Busseau, Craig Evans and Michelle Wilfong; two great grandchildren, Evan and Ella; sister, Elizabeth “Skeet” Horrell; and many extended family and friends.
After working many dedicated years, Willie Mae retired from Florida State Hospital for special needs children. It is recalled that she often took children home with her who had no place to go. She dearly loved children and helping them.
Willie Mae’s family was her whole world which was evidenced by the love, care and nurturing that she freely gave. She had a great sense of humor, loved to dress spiffy, and a radiant smile that brought light wherever she went. Willie Mae’s faith in the Lord was unwavering. Her presence in this world will surely be missed.
The family will receive friends at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at The Church of Pentecostal Gathering, 1342 N. Norwood Street (US Hwy 117), Wallace, NC 28466. Memorial service will begin at 7:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary with The Rev. Rodney Bonham conducting the service.
