Obituary

Myles Donald “Bud” Mills, age 84, of Willard left this life for his eternal rest on Saturday, August 4, 2018.

He was born on June 7, 1934 in Pender County and was the son of the late Jessie and Omie English Mills.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his best friend and wife of 64 years, Peggy Bradshaw Mills; son, Donald Jerome Mills and wife, Angela; daughter, Sue Mills Rivenbark and husband, Steve, all of Wallace; grandchildren, Ryan Adam Mills and wife, Beth, Allison Mills and Lauren Brooke Rivenbark; great grandchildren, Casey Mills and Cameron Mills; brother, John T. Mills, Sr. of Willard and numerous extended family and friends that loved Bud dearly.

Bud, as he was affectionately called, was devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and brother. He enjoyed the simplest things in life, but his greatest joy was family. Being a hard worker, Bud was a great provider for his wife and children; always making sure they had what they needed and then some. During Bud’s adult life, he worked at J.P. Stevens and other places. Later he opened his own upholstery shop where he and Peggy worked for over 45 years. Bud was loved and respected all who knew him. He will surely be missed, but cherished memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Tommy Blanton and the Reverend Edward Dowd officiating.

Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park, Watha.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Tuesday, one-hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank family and friends for all the love, support and prayers that have been shown to them during Bud’s illness. A special thank you to New Hanover Regional Medical Center ICU staff and Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the kindness and compassionate care given to Bud.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial gifts be sent to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 2840.1
