Obituary

Dixie Mae Woodcock Malpass, 88, passed gently from her earthly life on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at her home.

She was one of eleven children born to Manuay L. and Agnes Malpass Woodcock in Pender County on March 23, 1930. In addition to her parents, Dixie was preceded in death by her siblings, Stacy Woodcock, Elsie Barnhill, Danny Woodcock, Harold Woodcock, Sarah Atkinson, Lewis Woodcock, and Everette Woodcock.

Dixie is survived by her son, Ronald L. Malpass and his wife, Linda; daughter, Susan Frick; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sisters, Janice Norris, Daisy Kelly and her husband, Walter, and Drucille King; and many nieces and nephews.

Dixie was retired after working for Bell South for 33 years. Her great love in life was the 150 foster children that she cared for over the years.

Dixie, a kind and gentle soul, loved her family and her canine companion, Sushi. Baking fruit cake cookies by the dozens at Christmas time was an annual endeavor that Dixie was famous for. She had a doll collection that you could spend hours admiring. What an honor it is that the lively, learned and loving Dixie has lived on this earth among us.

A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 6, 2018 at Woodcock Cemetery with Rev. Merrell McKoy conducting the service. The family will receive friends at the cemetery beginning at 10:30 am until hour of the service.
