Louise DeBose Woodcock



Louise DeBose Woodcock, 78, of Atkinson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and God’s faithful servant was called to her heavenly home by the Lord on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Family was at her bedside and she was lovingly cared for by the staff at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.

She was born November 9, 1939 in Wayne County, the daughter of the late Robert Grady DeBose and Lillie Mae Corbett DeBose Sidbury. Also remembered is her husband, Jay Woodcock; sisters, LaVerne Woodcock, Daphne Rackley, and Carolyn Rhodes; and brothers, Robert DeBose and Dennis DeBose, all who preceded Louise in death.

Louise is survived by her daughter, Diane W. Norris (Dale); son, Richard N. Woodcock; grandchildren, Brandon Norris (Brittany) and Rebecca Retherford (Doyle); great grandsons, Landon Norris and Owen Norris; brother, Danny DeBose (Nell); and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Prior to retirement, Louise was office manager for many years at Black River Health Center in Atkinson. She was a faithful member of Atkinson Baptist Church.

Louise’s joy in life included her family, her church family, and her beautiful yard and flowers. She was a soft spoken true Southern lady filled with grace and always thinking of others. Her gentle spirit, generosity, and caring nature touched all who knew her.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Atkinson Baptist Church Fellowship Hall with service beginning at 11:00 a.m. in the church sanctuary. The Rev. Ken Smith will conduct the service. Burial will follow in Atkinson Cemetery.
