James Donald Hollingsworth, Sr.



James Donald Hollingsworth, Sr., age 75, of Wallace left this earthy life for his eternal rest on Sunday, November 26, 2017 from New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

He was born on November 28, 1941 in Duplin County and was the son of the late James Albert and Madge Matthews Hollingsworth. He was also predeceased by his brother, Edward Hollingsworth and sisters, Frances Hollingsworth and Doris Fussell.

Surviving to cherish his memories is his devoted wife of 57 years, Louvenia “Lou” Batts Hollingsworth of the home; children, Tanya Cavenaugh and husband, Duaine, Cheryl Threatt, James “Jamie” Donald Hollingsworth, Jr., all of Wallace and Larry Bryan Hollingsworth and wife, Rhonda of Burgaw; grandchildren, Holly Tyndall and husband, Jeremy, Amanda Stokes and husband, Douglas, Chris Padgett and wife, Leigh Anna, Kimberly Padgett, Kyle Threatt, Larry Hollingsworth, Jr. and wife, Maddie, Joshua Hollingsworth and Cory Hollingsworth and wife, Faith; great grandchildren, Dustin Stokes, Cody Stokes Troy Stokes, Kyla Michaud, Alexis Hollingsworth, Lily-Ann Hollingsworth and Abigail Black; sister, Ellen Duff of Holly Ridge and numerous nieces, nephews and friends that loved Donald dearly.

Donald was a loving husband and caring father, grandfather and brother. He found great joy in the simplest of things, but his greatest joy was family. For many years Donald was employed with Market Furniture of Wallace. During those years he developed many friends and acquaintances. He had great work ethics and worked diligently to provide for his family. With a gentle spirit and kind-hearted personality, Donald was loved by everyone who knew him. His world revolved around his best friend and soulmate, Lou, whom he loved with all his heart. Donald will surely be missed but fond memories will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved Donald.

Donald will be buried in Rockfish Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
