Phillip "Phil" Hand Hall

Phillip “Phil” Hand Hall, 67, of Watha passed from his earthly life on Friday, November 3, 2017 at his home.

He was born January 2, 1950 in Pender County, the youngest son of the late Colon Wendell and Lois Gray Saunders Hall.

Phil served his country honorably in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era aboard the USS Claude V. Ricketts with tours of duty in the Mediterranean and was a disabled veteran.

Survivors include a son, Mikel Hall (Robin Hosford, his mother) of San Marcos, TX and by his three brothers, James H. Hall (Carole) of New Bern, NC, Thomas W. Hall (Linda) of Henderson, NC and William C. Hall (Mary Beth) of DeBary, FL. Phillip is also survived by a grandson, many nieces, nephews, cousins and his close friends, especially in the Watha area.

Phil grew up on the family dairy farm in Penderlea and graduated from Penderlea High School before enlisting in the Navy.

After service, he toured the country and tried landscaping, fence installation and truck driving before settling in Texas. He also completed training and worked as a certified nursing assistant before returning to North Carolina.

A kind hearted soul, Phil loved southern rock music, country and western movies and motorcycles, but reveled in being the tough guy always living life on his terms.
