Obituary

Frances Vernell Gideon Futrell, 85, of Willard was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Monday, March 26, 2018.

She was born on February 7, 1933 in Pender County; the only daughter of five children born to the late Taft and Rena Groves Gideon. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Cynthia Lewis and her brother, Pete Gideon.

Mrs. Futrell was a faithful member of Wallace Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 44 years, Charles Futrell of Willard; children, Larry Futrell and his wife Ann, Randy Futrell and his wife Lynn and Charlene Meshaw and her husband, Kenny, all of Wallace, Danny Futrell and his wife Kelly of Rose Hill and Mike Futrell and his wife Vickie of Castle Hayne; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Solon Gideons, Ray Gideon and Glenn Gideon and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Vernell was a devoted wife and caring mother, grandmother and sister who loved her family dearly. She was a diligent homemaker and a great cook. She was a strong but gentle woman who loved her Lord, her family and her church family. Vernell will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am, one hour prior to the service, on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the Reverend Tommy Blanton conducting the service.

Burial will follow at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Bobby Smith officiating.
