Bobby Gene Hatcher, age 79, of Teachey left this earthly life for his eternal rest on Monday, January 15, 2018.
He was born on March 22, 1938 in Duplin County where he lived all his life. He was one of 14 children of the late Willie L. and Barbara Lanier Hatcher. Bobby was also predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Macie Gray Hardison Hatcher, who passed away on July 10, 2017; 10 siblings and his beloved canine companion, “Baby” who died in February, 2017.
Mr. Hatcher was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
He is survived by his devoted children, Bobby W. Hatcher and wife, Samantha of Walkertown, NC, Pamela J. Thompson and husband, Donald of Garner, NC and David R. Hatcher and wife, Tami of Lexington, NC; brothers, Guy Hatcher, Tim Hatcher and Johnny; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews that Bobby loved dearly.
Bobby was loving father and caring grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He found great joy in the simplest of things, but his greatest joy was family. Being an honorable and noble father, Bobby worked hard over the years to provide for his family. A man of great integrity, Bobby will be missed by all who knew him but treasured memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Corinth Baptist Church with his pastor, the Reverend Phil Eakins conducting the service.
The family will receive friends from 1pm to 2:00pm, one hour prior the service at the church on Friday.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Fussell Cemetery in Teachey.
Casketbearers will be Jamie Hatcher, Kim Hatcher, Rusty Hatcher, Gray Sheffield, Chris Cole and Michael Hodges.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial gifts be sent to Corinth Baptist Church, 1107 Cornwallis Road, Rose Hill, NC 28458 in memory of Bobby G. Hatcher.
