Sarah was a devoted wife and caring mother, grandmother and sister. She enjoyed the simplest things in life, but her greatest joy was her family, whom she loved with all her heart. Sarah was very talented in crocheting and knitting. For many years, she crocheted numerous head warmers (hats) that were given to new born babies at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. The highlight of Christmas-giving to her children and grandchildren was receiving Sarah's famous knitted dish cloths. Before retiring, Sarah and Joe were owners and managers of Little Farmers Seafood Market in Wallace. During that time Sarah made many friends that lasted a lifetime. She was a friend to all, a strong, yet gentle presence in the lives of those who were blessed to know her. Sarah was loved and will surely be missed, but treasured memories will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with the service following at 3:00 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Dennis Bazemore will conduct the service.

Burial will follow at Rockfish Memorial Cemetery, Wallace, NC.

The family would like to especially thank Dr. Jonathan Hines and Dr. Charles Neuwirth for their kindness and the compassionate care they gave to Sarah over the years. They would also like to extend their appreciation to the ER staff and 5th floor staff of NHRMC for the wonderful care they gave to Sarah her last few days on earth. To the staff of Woodbury Wellness, Sarah's family is very grateful for the love and care that was shown to both Sarah and Joe during their stay there. May God bless each of you for your dedication.
