Donald Bryant Lanier, 52, of Maple Hill left this life for his eternal rest on Saturday, 29, 2017.
He was born on October 28, 1964 in Panama City, FL and was the son of the late David Ashley and Jonan Washington Lanier.
Surviving is his loving daughters, Amber Michele Lanier and husband, Steven Fiducioso of Bristol, TN and Ashley Danielle Lanier of Galax, VA; grandchildren, Parker Stone Fiducioso, Kya Rayne Brewer and Kynleigh Wren Brewer; devoted brother, Michael Lanier of Maple Hill; nephews, Zachary Scott Lanier, Alexander Scott Lanier and Eric Michael Lanier; niece, Leilani Eve Sartelle and her son, Dominic and numerous extended family and friends that loved Donald dearly.
Donald loved life to it's fullest. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting and being outside in God's nature. He was a great storyteller who could tell the best and the longest stories of anybody around. With his great personality and love for life, Donald could have a good time wherever he went and whoever he was with. Donald loved his family, especially his beautiful daughters and grandchildren. He decided late in life that doing things "easier is the best way". Donald will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever live in the heart of those who knew and loved him.

Donald & I were like brothers as we grew up. We shared so many adventures. For instance we constantly held opossum catching contests to see which one of us could catch the most in one night using our bare hands. When we were 16 we went off into the swamps of the NE Cape Fear to live off the land for over a week & we lived to tell the tale. Maybe the craziest thing we did was to go bow hunting 30 feet up a pine during a hurricane. For many years we talked about the rocking we endured.
Donald & I were like brothers as teenagers but in our adult lives we became brothers in a different way. We were Brothers in Arms. He made a career in the Navy & I made a career in the Air Force. It didn't happen often but a few times we managed to take leave & meet back in NC to hunt for a few days. Those trips were always special to me. I'll miss you my friend.
My prayers go out to his family.

Losing a loved one is difficult and during those times we need comfort and understanding. What better place can we turn but to God's word the Bible. Read it daily and he promises that all who do so will have their thoughts and feelings soothed by "the peace of God that surpasses all understanding." (Philippians 4:6,7) (Acts 24:15) This will not only help you through your grieving process but also will allow you to cope. "He will make you firm, he will make you strong." (1 Peter 5:10) Go to www.jw.org to read the Bible and for answers to some of life's big questions.
