Charles Travis “Dinky” Sydes



Charles Travis “Dinky” Sydes, age 75, of Wallace left this earthly life on Friday, May 19, 2017 to live forever in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Born on February 10, 1942 in Lenoir County, Charles was the son of the late Charlie Monroe and Gladys James Sydes. He was also predeceased by his sister, Nora Ellen Goff, brother-in-law, James Lee Goff, Sr. and two great nephews, Jimmy Lee Tyndall and Christian Luke Tyndall.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his devoted sister and caregiver, Maxine Padgette and husband, Durwood of Wallace; brother, Jerry Sydes of Kinston; nephews, Vick Padgette (Michelle), Jerry Padgette (Pam), Tony Padgette (Sylvia), James Goff, Jr. and wife, Amy; niece, Tammy Goff Tyndall and husband, James "Jimbo"; great nephews, Zachary Padgette, Jamie Goff, Cody Tyndall and wife, Ann Marie, Colby Tyndall, Colton Tyndall ; great nieces, Kelly Padgette, Megan Padgette, and Victoria Padgette and Laykin Goff and numerous extended family that loved Dinky dearly.

"Dinky" as he was affectionately called was a simple man who was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was a loving and caring brother and uncle who loved his family dearly. Dinky was a good Christian man who lived his life as an example of God's never- ending love. He will surely be missed but cherished memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved "Dinky".

Funeral service will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home Wallace Chapel with Pastor George "Buster" Price and Pastor Durwood Maready officiating.

Burial will follow in James Cemetery, Wallace.

Casketbearers will be Vick Padgette, Jerry Padgette, Tony Padgette, James Goff, Jr., Cody Tyndall and Jimbo Tyndall.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Sunday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Durwood and Maxine Padgette.

Memorial gifts may be sent to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401.

The family would like to extend their appreciation and thank you to the staff at Lower Cape Fear Hospice for the wonderful and compassionate care they gave to Dinky and his family during his stay there.
