Jean (Heath) Cunningham

Jean Heath Cunningham, age 86, of Willard died unexpectedly Tuesday evening at her home. 

She was born on September 12, 1937 in Pender County, NC; the daughter of the late Roy and Catherine Stevens Heath.  Mrs. Cunningham was also preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Cunningham and her siblings, R.T. Heath, Barbara Matthews, June Godwin and Laura Cumer.  

Jean is survived by her son, Michael Cunningham of Willard; her daughter Donna Cunningham also of Willard; granddaughter Jamie Leary and husband Daniel; great grandsons James Hardison and Noah Leary; sisters, Virginia Heath Register of Petersburg, VA, and Joy Heath Brown and her husband Ray of Goldsboro; brothers, Fred Heath of Willard and Joe Heath and his wife Lisa of Rose Hill, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends that loved Jean dearly. 

Jean was a loving mother and caring grandmother and sister who adored her family.  She was always a hard worker who helped provide for her family.  Jean is known as the “Biscuit Lady” in Wallace for the many biscuits she made at Hardees thoughout the years.  She enjoyed being outdoors working in the garden or just enjoying God beautiful nature. Jean loved people and was loved in return.  She was a special lady who would give the short off her back to those in need.  Jean will surely be missed but treasured memories of her will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

There will be a memorial service in honor of Jean at a later date.
